Developing Wind Power in Vietnam

Vietnam’s economy is rapidly strongly, which means the people’s demand for energy is increasing. Over the past 20 years, the average growth rate of power output has reached 12-13% annually/year, twice the GDP growth rate of the economy. The Vietnamese government has decided to use and promote the development of more renewable energy sources, including wind energy.

According to investors, Vietnam is the country with the best natural conditions in Asia to develop offshore wind power projects with an open coastline of more than 3,000km, low sea level and constant wind speed. blowing frequently at high level. These are important prerequisites for the development of low-cost and high-reliability offshore wind power projects.
Vietnam’s offshore wind potential is estimated to range from 160 GW (Danish Energy Agency) to nearly 500 GW (World Bank).

Currently, across the country, there are nearly 50 registered wind power projects with a total capacity of nearly 500 MW. In which, the central region has the largest wind potential with 880 MW, mainly concentrated in two provinces of Quang Binh and Binh Dinh, followed by the South, with two provinces of Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.

In Vietnam, offshore wind power is still considered a new technology and is also a big challenge for Vietnam’s energy industry, when countries around the world are racing to develop and install their own Wind Power units.

PV Shipyard is proud to be one of the leading companies in the field of design and construction of offshore wind foundation towers. Not only are We focusing on investing in industrial machinery, but we also have a team of experienced professionals in this field.
