On March 30, 2012 at Vungtau, 90 meters Self-elevating Jack-up Offshore Drilling Unit – Tam Đảo 03 has been handed over from PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard J/S Company (PV Shipyard) to Joint Venture VietsovPetro (VietsovPetro) 2 month ahead of schedule. This enormous event has officially put Vietnam into the tighten Rig Builder list. And since this Rig was built under a very strictly observation by American Bureau Shipping (ABS), it also proves that Vietnam can contribute itself to Complex Offshore Structure market with International standard.
At the beginning, PV Shipyard faced a lot of difficulties such as lack of experience, technologies, etc. Moreover, at that time, PV Shipyard’s task had been doubled when fabricating the rig as well as building the shipyard. But the more we got into it, the more we went through all the challenges together, it improved not only our beliefs but also our ambitions to make our dream comes true. Day by day, step by step, with a perfect guidance from a professional project manager team, with non-stop encouragement from our board of director, PV Shipyard has made it happens. With our solidarity, great effort, we brought out our best of best to show to the world that we can do what other shipyard can. Even PV Shipyard is the first and only division in Vietnam to build rig however we have completed it without any fatality, contributes a very small part to the market but a big step to Vietnam Complex Offshore Building.
After the handover, within 2012, PV Shipyard shall continue its next mission to build a 400ft Jack-up for VietsovPetro. Besides that, PV Shipyard is also awarded to build a tender barge which can be operated at 250 meters water depth, can drill up to 10,000.00 meters from joint venture between PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services Corporation and Seadrill
