Over 12 months after the official first cutting ceremony of 90 metre jack-up rig in 26/06/2009, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) hosted a keel-laying ceremony at PV Shipyard fabrication base in Vung Tau City today (21 Sept), to signify the erection of the first blocks on the rig. This is important milestone of the project “new building of 90 metres jack-up rig” that worth over US$180mil.
Keel Laying is the formal recognition of the start of the rig’s module erection process which recognizes the ceremonial beginning of a rig and signifies the assembly of the 4 blocks that will form part of a hull consisting of 19 blocks in final.
The ceremony was attended by many Delegates from ministries, local authorities and representatives of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group to mark this historic occasion.
Opening the event, the rig owner’s speech appraised all of the prime contractor’s employees (PV Shipyard) for their considerable dedication, positive attitude and outstanding performance on the job. Following the speech was the ones from local authority and PV Shipyard’s representatives. The distinguished guests authenticated the keel-laying event by uncovering the blocks which appeared to join together.
Before closing the event, the PV Shipyard’s representative – Mr. Phan Tu Giang committed that PV Shipyard will fully dedicate to the project in aiming at an early delivery in second quarter of 2012.
